In an ideal situation, the molten channels are designed in a symmetrical manner, with the flow length and number of turns consistent in all downflow channels. In the case of multi-cavity molds or asymmetrical molds, the molten channels may include artificial lengths and turning points so that the system can be properly balanced. This concept helps both designers and hot runner designers to ensure optimal manifold design.

Hot runner is indispensable in injection molding production. For plastic processors, the key to benefit from hot runner is to choose a hot runner suitable for product molding and master the correct use of hot runner.

Hot runner (HRS), also known as hot water nozzle, is a nozzle that turns a solidified nozzle into a molten nozzle. Its composition is relatively simple, mainly including manifold, hot nozzle, temperature controller and so on. Among them, the manifold can be divided into I-shape, X-shape, Y-shape, T-shape, mouth shape and other special shapes according to its shape; Hot nozzles can be divided into large nozzles, pointed nozzles and needle valve nozzles according to their shapes. The method can be divided into watch type, card type and computer centralized control type.

 How to play the role of hot runner

In the injection molding process, the hot runner is used with the mold and plays a very important role. For example, in the injection molding production of relatively thin parts (such as mobile phone battery covers), the use of hot runner can easily produce high-precision, high-quality products; For injection molding materials with poor fluidity (such as LCP), the use of hot runner can significantly improve the fluidity of raw materials and ensure the smooth progress of injection molding production; For some large injection parts, such as car bumpers, door panels, TV back shells, air conditioning shells, etc., the use of hot runner relatively simplifies the extremely difficult injection molding.

Multi-cavity mold injection molding can not be formed without hot runner. It can be said that the hot runner is the best technology to ensure the balance of the runner. Due to the shear force in the flow channel, the geometric balance of the mold is reasonable, and the weight of the molded product is difficult to maintain consistency, especially the multi-cavity mold. If the hot runner is not used, the outside of the molded product will be lighter than the inside.

For plastic processors, as long as there is a certain injection batch, the use of hot runner is quite cost-effective. This is because hot runner helps companies eliminate nozzles in injection molding. In most cases, nozzles cannot be reused. Sometimes the weight of the nozzle is almost the same as the weight of the product. Using a traditional nozzle for injection means that as much raw material is wasted as the product used. According to this calculation, after the use of hot runner, 30% to 50% of raw materials can be saved. In addition, the hot runner also helps to reduce mold wear and extend mold life. The service life of the general hot runner mold is twice that of the fine nozzle mold.
